Michael Angove blog & news
It is (was) a bit of a trade secret that I design the wallpapers for the wonderful Farrow & Ball. I have been designing them for 10 years this year, so I thought I would come out of that beautifully painted closet and tell all......
It has been an incredibly busy year for me here in my studio in Wiltshire. Even with a very large commercial project happening I have managed to put together a new design collection called 'Menagerie'. This design was inspired by my recent travels across Scandinavia, inspired by historical furniture in Copenhagen, wood veneers and the royal Palaces in Sweden and museums in Helsinki....
Jo Malone London is one of those companies that fine artists and designers like myself can only dream of working with, so I guess my dream came true, twice! Last year, in 2014, JML launched the Michael Angove home scent collection; a limited edition range of products wrapped in my botanical designs that were specifically designed to match two of their 27 scents. This design shows growing stems, pretty green leaves and little flowers printed with the reliable expertise of ÅryTrays a Swedish company. The design has lots of fascinating detail and many butterflies and bugs to find and love. All of the botanical chinoiserie designs come from either the British countryside or my garden. My studio is in the garden so plants and flowers go straight into the studio where they are composed into designs.... Continue reading
4 years ago I was contacted by the luxury British brand Jo Malone London. I was thrilled! I have loved the scents for years. The company now owned my Esteé Lauder wanted to collaborate with me to create 2 bespoke designs or wallpapers as packaging for 2 scents from the entire range.
